DHS Klamath Falls

This LEED Gold-certified 90,000 SF complex provides updated office and administrative work environments for the Oregon Department of Human Services’ (DHS) more than 300 staff members. The three-story building co-locates its departments for Child Welfare, Self Sufficiency, and Aging & People with Disabilities. Situated on a former lumber mill site, this project experienced the unique challenge of contaminated soils. During preconstruction, Pence worked with the design team, an environmental engineering consultant and the local landfill to reduce the financial impact of removing contaminated soils by one order of magnitude. During construction, Pence worked diligently to ensure all activities were in strict conformance and alignment with the Contaminated Media Management Plan (CMMP) and Health and Safety Plan (HASP). This facility provides necessary social services to the Klamath Falls community.
