Goodwill Sandy
Since 1994 Pence has been renovating and building new retail projects for Goodwill of the Columbia Willamette. As the Goodwill brand continues to expand and adapt to changing retail markets, new styles, design choices and construction methods are used. Goodwill in Sandy, Oregon is a departure from the average Goodwill, taking advantage of the popular Portland style with an urban facade and use of Alaskan Yellow Cedar trusses—a Pacific Northwest nod.
The 24,000 square foot building is visually appealing with heavy timbers, pitched roofs, earth-tone paint colors and street-facing windows. A typical Goodwill tilt-up concrete approach was not appropriate for this site, and the team chose to go with structural CMU instead. After the demolition of existing structures, underground utilities were placed, and slab-on-grade concrete was poured.
An additional pad structure was placed on the 2.67 acres for restaurant use.
