Helen Gordon Center PSU

Pence performed a renovation and a 15,500 square foot addition to one of the first buildings in America designed specifically as a daycare facility. The building was constructed in 1928 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The second and first floors are attached to the original structure by two inventive configurations. Ceramic tile on the first floor of the new addition creates a piazza that flows into the existing building. The second floor is connected to the historic structure by a steel bridge/platform. This carpeted space is an open sitting areawith views to the first floor piazza.

Location: Portland, Oregon
