McKenzie County Health
The new 28,155 square foot, 3 story wood framed, 24 unit apartment complex of affordable Work Force housing was built by McKenzie County Healthcare Systems and North Dakota Housing Finance Agency for McKenzie employees. In addition to the 24 units there is an elevator lobby and mail room. The building consists of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units ranging in size from 800 – 1200 square feet. Flooring is carpet and luxury vinyl tile. Common areas share a gas furnace for heating and cooling. Individual units use electric V-Tac units for heating and cooling. The exterior siding is Hardi-plank. The project was constructed in 11 months, and was completed on time and under budget.
18 of the 24 apartments in the complex are reserved specially for essential workers, meaning those who are employed by the hospital in lower-wage positions such as nurses’ aides and lab technicians. Half of the new apartments will be available to current employees, while the rest will be available to recruit new employees.
