North Salem High School

The renovation of North Salem High School in Salem, Oregon, was the first major high school project resulting from the district’s 2018 bond. Salem’s oldest and most notable architectural school, North, was a unique project combining classic brick facades with modern athletic amenities. The work scope included a 110,000 SF addition and approximately 30,000 SF renovation of existing classroom space, seismic strengthening, and associated site work, which became more substantial as the project progressed. The demolition and recreation of an existing gymnasium are one of the structure’s most notable additions. Upgrades to the building included a culinary classroom and opened common areas that incorporated natural light throughout the project. Pence finished early on this project and continued working for the district on-site to complete additional scopes.
