Redmond Public Safety Facility
This 43,800-square-foot public safety facility delivered a modern headquarters for a growing police department, replacing an outdated station with expanded administrative offices, collaborative workspaces, training areas, advanced evidence processing and storage, detention spaces, a secure sally port, K9 facilities, vehicle carports and additional parking. The two-story building featured an exposed cross-laminated timber (CLT) structural system, abundant natural light, rooftop solar panels, electric vehicle charging and resilient building infrastructure. Extensive Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination and off-site prefabrication supported the complex timber structure by confirming structural, glazing and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) penetrations before fabrication, helping accelerate construction and reduce field modifications. Early procurement, self-performed concrete work and collaborative preconstruction efforts further streamlined delivery, allowing the project to finish ahead of schedule while returning significant savings to the city.
