Stephens Middle & Yoshikai Elementary Schools

This 33,300 SF project consisted of additions and renovations to the adjacent elementary and middle schools. Stephens MS underwent a 21,700 SF transformation, which increased safety and security, as well as enhanced science education opportunities. The scope entailed creating four new science labs and four new classrooms, making library media center improvements and expanding the cafeteria. Roofing was improved, portable classrooms were removed and more. Yoshikai ES increased its space by 11,600 SF with 10 new classrooms and enhanced its safety and security features. Various improvements were made to the gymnasium, wireless capacity, intercom system and heating/ventilation system. Additionally, solar arrays were added at Yoshikai and card reader systems were installed at both schools. These updates were intended to help relieve overcrowding and prepare for enrollment growth at both schools. The work was funded through a 2018 Salem-Keizer School District bond.
