Wynne Watts Commons

This 96,384 SF community complex is the largest net-zero affordable housing project in the Pacific Northwest to date, and among only a dozen nationwide. Key features include utilization of solar power, as well as energy efficient equipment and scheduling practices. The four-story, 150-unit building has 30 uniquelydesigned, universally accessible apartments for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). These living spaces feature sensors that monitor lights and other functions, alerting residents or caregivers of issues. Gresham’s “Workforce & Inclusive Housing” campus serves residents earning less than 30% of the average median income, bringing more much-needed multi-unit affordable housing to the area. It was completed in collaboration with Albertina Kerr, a Portland mission-based organization providing services for people experiencing I/DD, mental health challenges and other social barriers.
